Maria Luti

Founder & Director

Maria Luti (she/her) is the Director and Lead Classroom teacher at The Montessori Home School. Maria’s passion for education started early as a highschool volunteer, then employee, of Highland Montessori School in San Mateo, CA . She received her Early Childhood Education degree from Sonoma State University in California and her AMI Montessori Degree from the highly acclaimed, competitive The Montessori School of the Golden Gates in San Francisco, CA; founded by author and Montessori pioneer Ursula Thrush. Maria performed her student teaching practicum at (AMS) American Montessori School, Morning Glory Montessori, located in Burlingame, CA.

Earning an (AMI) International Montessori Degree allowed Maria to travel and teach Montessori in Spain, Sweden, Germany, England and Ireland. Maria's passion for teaching Montessori has spanned nearly 40 years, serving California for 16 and then Boston and surrounds through present day. Her experience in private, public, traditional settings as well as International and American Montessori schools allowed her to build an innovative and textured Montessori home school program. Finding the unique balance between two theories of Montessori AMI (International Montessori) and AMS (American Montessori) was a beautifully complicated task and one that has taken years of meticulous care.  Cultivating a unique balance for the Montessori Home School has been a fulfilling accomplishment and one that continues to develop daily.  Using the Montessori philosophy of 'respecting the child' gives each day a new meaning to what a child might bring.  Listening and Observing in the classroom has proven to be the biggest gift that a teacher can receive.

Maria is a strong advocate for cultural and global diversity that extends concretely to the classroom and the school community. The Montessori Home School combines all of this with a focus of instilling a Life Long Love of Learning. The Montessori Home School has also been the site of a teaching training for Boston University Early Childhood Education Program, Bridgewater State University Education Program, Salem State and currently Westfield State University Education Programs. Maria has served on the Advisory Counsel for the North Suburban Child & Family Network and currently serves on the board of the JL11 foundation for mental health.
