See Our Classrooms

The Montessori Home School Program is located on a half an acre of land and has been
in the Luti Family since 1975.  This center entrance colonial house was built in 1923
and just celebrated 100 years.

The space has been carefully crafted so that our indoor and outdoor learning environments

are rich in possibilities and provocations that invite the children to undertake extended
exploration and problem solving.

SUNSHINE

Our Sunshine Room is a quiet private space, where teachers and parents meet and collaborate about the program as well as confer about the students.

Any observations of our students are discussed confidentially, separate from the children's hearing. This space allows visiting parents to comfortably review children's learning progress and style from a neutral environment.

This space holds our extensive parent lending library.

THE HAPPY HALLWAY

Our hallway sets the tone for your childs Montessori experience. From the first day, students learn to embrace their independence by organizing their entry.

Here the students change their outdoor shoes to indoor shoes. Coats and backpacks are hung, lunches and water bottles consigned to designated spaces.

In the beginning parents will be asked to provide minimal assistance, as older students take on the roll of mentoring the younger. Parents are advised that cell phones are not permitted in the Happy Hallway.

OUTDOOR CLASSROOMS

Our outdoor space includes an outdoor classroom area, large area for ride-on vehicles and gross motor activities as well as an area for gardening.  We are fortunate to have something for every season. The property is beautifully filled with Sugar Maple Trees, Oak Trees, White Pines, River Birch as well as a variety of specialty plants and shrubs.  Our outdoor space is a very important part of our Education for Peace and the protection of the environment.

Fall in New England is one of the most beautiful times of the year as well a time for learning about what is happening outside.  The change in temperature outside makes way for the falling of the leaves and great fun raking and jumping the leaves. We explore why and how the vegetation is preparing for the next season, Winter.  Winter brings science experiments with ice and snow.  We also sow winter seeds for the spring.   Spring is a fan favorite here as things start to wake up.  In early spring, we tap our various Sugar Maple Trees for sap to make maple syrup and then promptly have a pajama day with a pancake breakfast.  Then it is on to the planting of bulbs as well as preparing the vegetable gardens.  As summer approaches, picnics and outdoor activities become more expanded.  The plethora of vocabulary and learning from our outdoor space continues to grow as we experiment with the children's new ideas.  Last year we built a pebble box and found hidden treasures.  This year we built an outdoor music area complete with thimbles and drums.  Creativity is ever evolving here in our outdoor spaces.

GATHERING PORCH

The entrance to our school is a gated porch that brings our families into the Happy Hallway.

This area allows us an outdoor classroom space; to gather, to create art, to observe nature and to transition to our gardens and outdoor expolation.

WONDER GARDENS

Our Wonder Garden is a collection of garden beds situated in a pattern to accommodate the suns  position. Beds are planted in the fall to experience the magic of the spring awakening. Students observe the phases of growth, the impact of the changing suns position, and the seasons of the year.

Our gardens are an integral part of the Montessori education of Peace and Care of the Environment (of all Living Things).
